The SHINE (Serving the Health Insurance Needs of Everyone) Program provides free health insurance information and counseling to all Massachusetts residents with Medicare and their caregivers. People who have Medicare or who are about to become eligible for Medicare can meet with a counselor to learn about available benefits and options. A counselor will review programs that help people with limited income to pay health care costs. SHINE counselors are committed volunteers or agency staff who receive extensive training. Counselors become certified by the Executive Office of Elder Affairs in many areas of health insurance, including Medicare Part A, Part B, and Part D; Medigap insurance, Medicare HMOs, retiree insurance plans, prescription drug programs, Medicaid, Medicare, and other programs for people with limited resources.
Trained SHINE volunteers offer free, confidential counseling on all aspects of Medicare and Medicare-related health insurance programs. To speak with our SHINE counselor, please call the Senior Center at 978-640-4480 to leave a message. The SHINE counselor will return your call as soon as possible.
For other SHINE-related matters, please call 1-800-AGE-INFO 800-243-4636. Once you get to the SHINE answering machine, leave your name and number. A volunteer will call you back as soon as possible.
